WIP Wednesday 6/3/09

I haven’t been posting much because about a week and a half ago I fell from the third step of a ladder and landed flat on my back on the tile floor. Luckily I didn’t break anything this time but I have definitely been sore. I am actually more sore now than I was the first few days after I did it. Yes, I am a klutz. And I haven’t been running either. I tried once and it wasn’t good so I figured I better wait for a bit. All this makes me cranky and therefore I do not post. Who feels like posting when you’re cranky? Also, it kills my tailbone if I sit for long and that surely cuts down on the time I spend at the computer. It has greatly increased the spring cleaning going on around here though. One can get a lot of cleaning done while standing, which is the most comfortable right now.

The plain vanilla socks are finally past the gusset decreases. I really like this Trekking colorway!

I made a pair of mittens from some handpsun that has been in my yarn cabinet forever. The handspun is a Rambouillet and Angora blend and the mittens feel heavenly when on your hands. I have decided I need to make a better effort to knit up all this handspun, so you’ll be seeing a lot more handspun projects.

The car seat organizer is finished and in use in Michael’s truck. He likes it quite  a bit. I originally got the pattern to make this for my car, but I made one for him first and now I don’t feel like making it again for myself. Maybe in a month or so I’ll feel like it.

Pattern: Simplicity 3731 Car Organizer
Material: Patriots from Joann’s

I finished the pajama pants too. I like these quite a bit but they are a little big. I will make one size down the next time I make them, and there will be a next time for sure.

Yikes, scary but hopefully you’ll be feeling better soon. Cute projects, I especially like the mittens!

  2. Joyce says:

    Ooooo, Karen, get better soon.
That car organizer required some work, you’ve done a great job on that.

my goodness! what a fall! Isn’t falling as an adult just crazy? I mean, we all remember falling down as a kid but it’s dramatic as an adult! You take care… maybe get one of those inflatable donuts to sit on… I know, you think I’m kidding but I broke my tailbone in high school and I sat on that darn donut for a lonnnnnng time.

  5. Oh, man! I’m so glad you’re okay!

  6. caitlyn says:

Oh noooo!!! I’m glad you didn’t break anything, but falling on your back on a tile floor still doesn’t sound good. =( I hope you feel better soon.

  7. Carole says:

I’m so sorry you fell! Hope you feel better soon. All your projects are great.

  8. Nora says:

Oh, my gosh! I’m glad nothing broke, but I’m so sorry you’ve been hurting. Be careful out there - it does appear that you’re being quite productive with the needles!

  9. shannon says:

Great projects! The socks are coming along nicely and it looks like you have been sewing up a storm.

I’m glad to hear you weren’t hurt more seriously in the fall. I’m a bit of a klutz too and always have to be extra careful around those things!

  10. Karen says:

Oh no! We’re going to have to wrap you in bubble wrap. I hope you’re back to normal soon.
    Everything looks wonderful.

  11. Sarah says:

I hope you are feeling back to normal soon!
And, I know exactly what you mean about the car seat organizer…I loose my steam after the first one a lot. :)

  12. Jenny says:

I wondered why you had been so quiet! You certainly have a lot to show since last time! That Trekking colorway is really fun and I love all the FO’s!

  13. Nancy says:

Ouch! Plan on being patient as you heal from this one. (Give me a minute as I recover from laughing at the that thought….) I bruised my tailbone earlier this year and was warned by others that it takes forever for a tailbone to heal - and they weren’t kidding. I think it took just over a month for me to be back at 100%.

  14. Chris says:

Let’s you and me make a pact: NO more falling!

Lovelovelove those pants and that material!! And that organizer. Such a good little sew and sew you are.

  15. Kristen says:

Oh dear, do be careful! Back problems are not good. But hanging around in the comfy jammie pants might help.
Love the stripey sock colorway. And the car organizer is something I should make for my trashmobile.

  16. diane says:

Jeese, glad you didn’t break/crack anything! You have been productive though:) Love the mitts!

  17. Elizabeth says:

Oh, Karen!! I hope you feel better soon!!!!! Love all the sewing projects as well as the knitting ones.

  18. dawn says:

Yikes! You are quite accident prone, aren’t you? What bad luck, just when things were looking up again. Never mind, I’m sure it will feel better soon, and you’ve made loads of progress on everything, sewing and knitting. The mittens looks lovely, nice and soft.

  19. Renee says:

Ow, ow, ow. Just thinking of you picking yourself up off the floor, hurts. Fortunately, the body is great at healing, though sometimes not on our busy schedules. You’ll feel much better soon. Doesn’t seem to have slowed you down much…just shifted the project priority list. Your latest projects are lovely. Don’t worry about blogging; we can wait. Whenever you get around to posting, we’re always happy to hear from you, even if it hurts us to hear. Rest. Things will soon feel normal again.

  20. Teyani says:

So sorry to hear that you fell. and glad that you didn’t injury yourself worse - though what you have done is bad enough.
I hope that you are beginning to feel better.

and I love those apartment pants btw. so fun

  21. Marcia says:

So sorry about your fall! I fell off the front porch, so I feel your pain! Love the car caddy and the pants. I’ll have to look into those patterns. Hope we’re feeling better soon!

  22. Lifesastitch says:

Hope it’s hurting less. I did something similar the day before our vacation. I slipped down the steps and landed full weight with my toes curled under my foot. I was close to the fridge and got ice on it immediately. It made it look better but it still hurts today ;-(

  23. JessaLu says:

Yikes! Hope you’re feeling better! Nice pants! :o)

  24. Lorette says:

Good grief, girl. You need to stop that klutz stuff now! I’m a klutz, too, though.

That Trekking yarn is the best. What color number is that?
