Well the plan was that the bathroom would be done by the end of staycation. Yeah, well… not so much. Last weekend I attempted to paint the popcorn finish on the ceiling. I don’t care for popcorn ceilings. I know they’re old and dated but it’s what they put in my house 20 + years ago and I read they were a lot of work to remove them, so I have learned to live peacefully with mine. One thing I did learn though was that if you didn’t prime the surface you are finsihing with popcron, the minute it gets wet, like when you are trying to paint it for instance, it will fall off said surface and make a big mess. Apparently the previous owners did not prime this ceiling, so whether we wanted to or not, we had to scrape off the popcorn and start fresh. Now that it’s done and nice and smooth, I like the rest of the popcorn ceilings even less.
Then we went shopping for a new vanity top. As it turns out the existing vanity which we intended to keep, was a custom size and the price of a custom size top was really expensive. Really expensive! We thought about buying a post-form top and cutting it to fit, but neither of us liked the looks of them very much. So we picked out a new slightly smaller vanity and top that were in stock for just about the same price of the custom size top. Now however the toilet and shower, which we were also keeping, didn’t match the new sink. You see where this is going, right? So the bathroom is now totally gutted and is slowly being put back together. Right now Michael is working on the plumbing. See my pretty new, clean tub?! The old tub had little dings in the bottom of it that were starting to rust. I won’t miss it.

I finished up the plum merino but I am going to let it sit for a bit before I ply it with the multi-colored merino because that one has been sitting for a few months now.

This is the next fiber that I will be working on. I won it in a blog contest that Jane had a couple of years ago. I don’t know what the fiber it but it’s very soft. I’ll have to ask Jane if she remembers what it is. If I had to guess, I would say it is BFL.

I ripped and reknit the neck and button bands for the cardigan. The sweater queen knew what my problem was right away with the flipping out neckband and so I went down one needle size when I reknit the bands. It probably would have looked even better if I had went down 2 sizes, but I didn’t have a needle that size that was long enough. Thank you Suzanne! And thank you all for your comments and suggestions on the problem too. The sweater is sewn up but I still need to weave in a few hundred ends and find some buttons.
Julie got me hooked on the lambcam. I have it running all the time and every time I sit down I look to see if any babies are being born. I was lucky on Friday, or maybe it was Saturday, and saw two sets of twins born. And last night I saw a single kid born. It was fabulous! They are so darn cute! I can’t wait until it’s time for the sheep to start having their babies!
